From spacious conversions of former factories to cosy and kitsch café bars, Leicester is a seriously stylish place to be seen. From traditional pubs to champagne and vodka bars, you'll literally be spoilt for choice.
Some suggestions include sipping Champagne at The Case Champagne Bar on Hotel Street; trying unusual flavours of vodka at Revolution on New Walk; relaxing with the best gin and tonic in town at r/bar on Granby Street, and watching juggling bar staff make you a fantastic cocktail at Time bar next to the station.
Leicester's best live music pub is undoubtedly The Charlotte, which specialises in live alternative music like grunge, rock and indie. Past bands that have played at The Charlotte include Oasis, The Stone Roses, The Verve and Radiohead.
As well as the city centre, check out Leicester's up and coming West End, based around Braunstone Gate near De Montfort University, and Queen's Road near the University of Leicester. Lots of trendy bars and restaurants have sprung up in these areas, and are particularly popular with the student crowd.
For those of you who are still buzzing after 11pm, don't despair! Whether you're dressing up or dressing down, the city has both mellow venues and glitz and glamour. Leicester's late license bars may be just the thing if you're not in the mood for dancing, but if energy levels are high you won't be disappointed.
Original 4 on King Street is one of Leicester's best clubs, with four different levels and a range of music styles and atmospheres. Chill out on sofas, or dance til dawn. The Moroccan chic of Po Na Na on St Nicholas Circle is another popular place for dancing, whilst Lounge One on Welford Road attracts the glitzy crowd, so dress up to the nines! Streetlife is the city's top gay club, and always popular.
