Heart of the Forest Open-Top Bus Tour

Saturday 19 July 2008 to Saturday 30 August 2008 

Operating on 7 Saturdays throughout the summer, the Heart of the Forest Tour will take in parts of the stunning National Forest and the surrounding district of North West Leicestershire.

Starting at the historic market town of Ashby de la Zouch, the tour will head towards the stunning National Forest, firstly visiting the impressive new National Forest Youth Hostel and then moving onto Conkers - the award-winning family attraction. The bus will then move onto the historic Moira Furnace - a former 19th century iron-making furnace and then to the serene Sence Valley Forest Park. Donington le Heath Manor House - the former home of gun powder plotter, Everard Digby, is the next attraction on route, followed by the former coal mining town of Coalville.

The tour includes insightful and entertaining on-board commentary from a local guide and passengers can to either stay either stay on board for the full tour or hop off at any of superb attractions along the way, hopping back on a later bus.

Discounted advance tickets can also be purchased from Leicester Tourist information Centre in Town Hall Square or the Ashby Tourist information on North Street, Ashby. Advance tickets cost £1 less for adult and child tickets and £2 for a family ticket.
Concessionary bus pass holders are entitled to FREE travel on the bus tours, please call 0116 299 4444 to book over the phone.

On-bus ticket prices:

• £16 for a family ticket (2 adults and up to four children)
• £7 adult ticket
• £5 child ticket (over 5 years)
• Under 5s travel for free

• £4 for 50-99 tickets
• £3.50 for 100+ tickets
• Single tickets from and to Leicester: £1 each way

Please note:
The bus will depart from St Margaret's Bus Station in the morning and then travel to Ashby. Travel from and to St Margaret's Bus Station will incur extra cost of £1 each way (£2 for a family ticket). To travel from St Margaret's Bus Station you need to book in advance using our online Eshop facility. Alternatively tickets for the Heart of the Forest tour from Leicester can be purchased from Leicester Tourist Information Centre in Town Hall Square.
The only time the bus will bring you back to St Margaret's Bus Station is at the end of the tours (around 5.30pm).

The pick up from St Margaret's Bus Station can only take 30 passengers so please book early to guarantee your place.

The Open Top Buses have 3 steps leading on to the bus; they do not have low level access.
